Add data to Pivot table

Hi,
I am completely new to excel. Might have all kinds of silly questions, so please bear with me.
Can I add data in the data source file and when I refresh the Pivot table will it get added to it?

Hi Ahc,

Welcome to chandoo.org forum.

With Static data range it's not possible, but if you convert your source data to Table or create a dynamic named range for your source data its possible.

In this excel sheet on leave records, I need to add the values of CL and SL into a new column FL. How to SUM the two cells? It shows error #value.

this is the practice sheet that I am working on. I want to add one more column titled Flexi leave which is the total of SL and CL. but don't know how.

As far as my knowledge is concern, I don't think that such calculative field can be setup in PT. For such analysis you have to depend upon formulas. See the attached file. On Sheet2 I had recreated the data in table and in yellow cells the summary is given, Just check the outputs.

First of all, thank you for the file.
When i clicked on one of the cell a loooong formula came on the formula bar. so I am trying to understand the formula for now. bracket by bracket.
