2. Arrange the data above in excel in an ascending and descending order for each city.

This is one of the activites I have to do in my project as part of my studies. Can anyone guide on this, how to do it based on "each city"?
Appreciate your guidance.
Thank you,
Ann

As this is clearly homework, do not expect the board to solve it for you, but you probably will get pointers.
What have you already tried and where did it go wrong?

Hi,
How do you do any sorting? Maybe you can:
1. look on the data tab.
74792
2. or on the home tab
74793
3. use the mouse
74794
4. or when filters on, do this
74795

And I may forget some of the options.

Ofcourse, homework is my reponsibility, I am not expecting exact solution...as I said I was confused on the "each city", otherwise it can be done easily. I tried it in multiple ways, and I wrote 3 ways, using cutom sorting... awaitng for my instructior to verify it.... thought of checking in forums to have a clarity on "each city" part.

Hi, I tried soritng on city, which resulted in arranging it alphbeticaly. When I did row wise, the months for reaaranged, which resulted in some values were not in ascending.... I did custom sorting and filtering, but May and June values are not correct.... I added a Total column and did, not sure thats what they asked or not, awaiting for my instructor to verify it..meanwhile I thought , let me try in forums for "each city" part... Thank you for your response, I will try the fourth option you mentioned ... thank you.

This is exactely what sorting does... on text values.

So it's about interpretation of the phrase "each city"... I find this strange wording then, since I can't see what it can mean. As there are no repeated values in the data. It could mean sorting on 2 levels: first on city, then restaurant ID.

Sorting column wise does not make any sense. Each row has a different sort order, then the column labels loose sense of meaning.

Hi, Discussed with my instructor, your 4th method was correct :).
My instructor told first do a filter on city, then do ascending..again do the same for descending... like that do for each city.... she added as the question has "each city" and it has sepecified months in the table, we cannot add multiple levels in custom sorting . Thank you.
