It depends on the style of learning suits you the most. If you're self-learning person then you can use Books, Internet (Blogs and forums like these). There are many books on Excel VBA. Here's one such list:

I have used Excel VBA and Macros by Bill Jelen.

If you prefer course and interactive tutoring then you either have to look locally or online courses on internet. Chandoo offers one, you could check that out.

Keep in mind it depends on your commitment and interest as to how soon you pick up the skills.

You should give that a try, you have got nothing to lose there. You can learn OpenText (or similar) method that Excel uses. There are many ways to do the same task in VBA which you will realize when you will start using it and not all are possible to find out using Macro Recorder.
