Power Pivot Import of .csv file incorrectly imports ip address

I am importing a .csv file with Power Pivot. The column that contains ip address is imported as a number. How can I get it to import as text?

How is it brought into PowerPivot data model?

Is it via get external data? Or is it from PowerQuery or some other source?

Are you able to highlight the column and change Data Type to Text in Formatting ribbon tool in PowerPivot module?

The problem is that by the time I try to change the format to text, it is already imported as a number.

I import it as external data, text file

Then instead of directly importing data into PowerPivot, leverage PowerQuery to import and then load to data model.

If above does not work. Upload sample csv which represent your data to get further help.
