Indirect function with 001 numbers

I am using indirect to reference sheets on a master page. Some of the sheets are named 001, 002, etc. The zeros have to stay. The function is reading them as "2" and is returning a #REF!

Question 1: How to resolve the above issue.
Question 2: Error handling for the code to protect future problems.

I realize without uploading the workbook (I can't) I will probably only receive general responses, but I will work with it. Thanks!

You can use the TEXT function, like:

=TEXT(2,"000") and use that text with INDIRECT. Blessings!

You can also use Sheet code name instead of sheet name.

Sheet1 instead of Sheets("Sheet_test")
