Hi Rajan,

1. If diff. is positive between each successively month then positive otherwise negative. Means [+,+,+,+] implies positive and [-,-,-,-] implies nagetive and [+,-,-,+,] implies Fluctuating. Is that correct.

That's correct, but that's an array formula with CSE I think so.
Is there any simple way to get that instead of array ?
And for fluctuating it can be
[-,+,-,+,]
[+,-,-,+,]
[-,-,+,+,]
[+,+,-,-,]

But what you had done is absolutely correct.

You can also use the slope function to see the overall change
Change F1 to 1/7/14
then you can use: =IF(SLOPE(C2:F2,C1:F1)<0,"Negative","Positive")
etc
