Just playing!
I used a Lambda function to determine whether a cell is to be highlighted or not.

LatestEntryλ is defined to be

    ISTEXT(cell XLOOKUP(cell, list, list, , , -1))
  )
That is, look up the current cell in the list and return the last match as a range reference. Intersect the range returned with the current cell. If they intersect, format the cell; if #NULL! is returned do no format the cell.

Mind you, conditional formatting is so antiquated that I may well be accused of applying 'lipstick to a pig'!
