Workbook with 30+ worksheets

I'm creating a workbook with over 30 worksheets and have to send it to individuals who may not be too savvy with Excel. Any suggestions on how to make the workbook look "cleaner" and not so overwhelming to a novice user?
Possibly group worksheets and create a link to that group with a Master TOC (so to speak)?
Any solutions are welcome! Thanks

Good day and welcome to the forum

No idea!, if we do not know how your data is set up and how the workbook looks how can we suggest!!...How about an upload of a few sheets.

If you send the work book to anyone, whether excel savvy or not, you risk them screwing up your work....This is where I use Access, import the workbook, make a form for user input (they cannot screw up the data as in Excel) load the front end onto the work stations and the back end on to the server.

Hi ,

A few questions :

1. Will all users be accessing all 30+ worksheets ? If not , is it possible to have a simple macro , which can be used to display only the relevant sheets to each user ?

2. More than the number of worksheets , it is the layout of each worksheet which is daunting to users ; when a user opens a workbook :

a. It should be clear to them what they are supposed to do next

b. Depending on what actions are expected from them , the appropriate screen / screen section / userform should be displayed to them ; it should never happen that a user opens a workbook to find the worksheet in Page Break Preview , and looking at cell IJ337 !

You can create what are called Custom Views , so that it becomes easier for a user to select the view that they want displayed instantaneously.

c. Most users , when faced with anything that , to them , appears beyond their grasp , are fearful , fearful of making mistakes. Thus , when developing an application which will be used by others , the first aspect to be taken care of is error handling ; and error handling means not just catching errors , but also informing the user about the error with appropriate , fully descriptive messages , and also letting them know how they can resolve the error , so that they know what to do next.

In response to an earlier thread , Luke has posted a link , which you can refer to , for more tips on workbook design :

Hi,

Can you share a link where I can learn what you have written here or if you can teach us,

This is where I use Access, import the workbook, make a form for user input (they cannot screw up the data as in Excel) load the front end onto the work stations and the back end on to the server.

I am planning to implement this thing at my work, I know Access (little more than Novice), but don't know this part.

Regards,
