Why doesn't my file transform into a .csv file

Guys,

I have an excel document which I would like to transform into a .csv file.

When I save I as an .csv file it does not give me a csv file however. I included two screenshots -> csv_right shows how I want i come out and csv_wrong it what i get. I also included the relevant excel file which I wanted to transform in .csv

Any help on what goes wrong?

Regards,
Marc

The Excel file you have upload does not contain the data to get the file you want, it contains the data that shows up in the csv_worng.png

I know but I just want to know why the excel file I attached cannot be transformed into a .csv.... Any thoughts on that?

I'm with bobhc, your example is hard to understand as the "right" file has completely different information. I think the actual issue is that in the "wrong" file, XL loaded in the CSV and automatically did a Text-to-columns to help space things out. However, if you open the CSV in Textpad or something, you will see that both CSVs have the same type fo format.

In short, there's nothing wrong actually, XL is just anticipating that the data should be read as 2 columns, rather than all in one.

Im sorry for the confusion. Anyway I think im one step closer to the solution.

A .csv file which does not cause any issues is structured like this when I open it in notepad:

address,direction,street,crossStreet,intersection,Location 1
"S CATON AVE & BENSON AVE,N/B,Caton Ave,Benson Ave,Caton Ave & Benson Ave,""(39.2693779962, -76.6688185297)"""

A .csv file which does cause any issues is structured like this when I open it in notepad:

Item;Description
1;ja
2;ne

So I think its the "," or ";". Any thoughts on how I can adjust this?

In the two files, it's a different delimiter that's being used (comma vs. semicolon). When you import into XL, if that what you need to do, you can tell the Text-to-Columns wizard what the delimiter is on the 2nd screeen, by checking appropriate item:
upload_2015-6-19_9-46-4.png

If you starting in XL and want to make a CSV, XL will use the comma delimiter.
