Why doesn't document show all the letters in a cell?

I've heard there's a magic number of characters allowed in one cell. I use the Alt Enter keys to add a new line within a cell but I don't think I've reached the limit. Yet when I print the document, not all the words print. Is there a fix for this? Thank you-new to the forum, learning alot, you all are so amazingly brilliant!!

From 2007's "Excel limits and specifications"

Total number of characters that a cell can contain: 32,767 characters

Is the cell size not big enough to contain all the words and/or other cells with content (even a formula) are in the adjacent cells preventing the text from "spilling over"?

Hi, tpeters@dcorllc.com!

First of all welcome to Chandoo's website Excel forums. Thank you for your joining us and glad to have you here.

As a starting point I'd recommend you to read the three first green sticky topics at this forums main page. There you'll find general guidelines about how this site and community operates (introducing yourself, posting files, netiquette rules, and so on).

Among them you're prompted to perform searches within this site before posting, because maybe your question had been answered yet.

Feel free to play with different keywords so as to be led thru a wide variety of articles and posts, and if you don't find anything that solves your problem or guides you towards a solution, you'll always be welcome back here. Tell us what you've done, consider uploading a sample file as recommended, and somebody surely will read your post and help you.

And about your question...

May I suggest you to upload a sample file? Give a look at the second green sticky post at this forums main page for uploading guidelines.

Regards!

Hi Peters ,

What does your Print Preview show ?

Let us assume your long text is in cell C5.

If you do not have Wrap Text on for C5 , then the Print Preview will show only as much as the print margins will allow ; the remaining text matter will spill over to the next page. Of course , this is only if the cells to the right of C5 are all blank. If any of the cells D5 and onwards to the right , have anything in them , then the text in C5 will be truncated.

If you do have Wrap Text on , then the Print Preview will display the complete text.
