WaterFall Chart Question

I have a waterfall chart that shows 5 data points in the waterfall. The first 3 are Approved, In-Progress, Not Started that all step up (always have values >0). My next block is a Variance, and the ending point block is my Target.

My question is about the variance block. This is the difference between the Total and the Sum of Approved, In-Progress, Not Started. The waterfall works correctly when the value is either positive of negative, it does the corerct thing. My question is just for that Variance Chart Point, can you color the block based on the value.

So if the variance is -100 the chart block is red, but if it's +100 the chart block is pink?

I did look at the Peltier Conditional Charting without VBA at the link below but couldn't get it to work in my waterfall chart.

It's "possible"...just going to take some work. Assuming you're using a stacked column chart to create your waterfall, you would need to create a secondary axis with with dummy series for Approved, In-Progess, Not Started and Target equal to 0. The secondary series for Variance would be Pink. You could then use the technique described in Jon's site to have the secondary Variance value be #N/A if value is -100, and the regular Variance value (on primary axis) is visible, or vice versa if value is +100.
