VLOOKUP to the left

By default, in Excel 2010, the vlookup function return values from columns that are at the right of the table.


I know there is a way to make it possible to look for data in columns at the left also, but I'm not sure how.


Sometime ago I saw something like "indirect", but I have no idea how to build the formula.


Any help is great welcome.
