VLOOKUP, MAPPING FROM TWO DIFFERENT WORKSHEETS. SOS.

I have two sheets up, and have X Y Z as columns in one sheet, and X A B in the other sheet. I have X as a reference but would like to automatically map column Y and Z onto the sheet with X A B. I use VLOOKUP and it doesn't say I'm wrong but shows only the formula, no results. Please help!

Welcome to our forum and thanks for posting a question.

Without looking at your file, it will be very hard to understand exactly what mistake you are making. That said, try this:
  • See if your formula cells are marked as "TEXT" from Home > Format area. If so, switch to General and then select the formula cell, press F2 and Enter. This will force Excel to calculate the formula.
  • See if you are on "View formulas" mode. From Formulas ribbon, check if "Show Formulas" is highlighted. If so, press CTRL~ to toggle this.
  • See if your formula has a single quote ' at the beginning. If so, delete this so Excel can treat the cell as formula
If all these do not work, try https://chandoo.org/wp/excel-formulas-are-not-working/

If that also fails, try posting a sample file so one of us can help.

Thank you for the response. I ran into another problem. When I am trying to map data from one sheet to another using VLOOKUP, and I have one blank sheet with nothing to reference. How could I literally extract the data from the other sheet without sort of a common denominator, or reference on the blank sheet?
