Hi,

I have an excel spreadsheet that i want to show on the screen without the menu bars, formula bars and so on being visible just the range of cells from A1 to G30.

How can I do this?

If i were be at your place i would be prefering bobhc idea as mentioned above.
perhaps if you prefer to hide other things please confirm attached file or other stuff you want. like sheets ...

Hi Bobhc,

I did not think to include that the range of cells has a drop down list from which a user can select a name and data for the selected name shows up in shapes displayed in the range.

You could make a link so that only the selection you want is visible, but it is still workable, i.e. You can click on a button to make them do something. You may have to go through making one or two slides to get the desired end result, in my opinion linking to PowerPoint is better as you can display what you want, but you also get the full power of a presentation program instead of a flat worksheet.

Insert a linked selection from a spreadsheet
To insert and link a selection of data from a saved Excel spreadsheet, do the following:

  1. In Excel, open the workbook containing that data that you want to insert.
  2. Select and copy the data that you want.
Keyboard shortcut You can press CTRL + C to copy the data.
  1. In PowerPoint 2010, click the slide where you want to paste the copied worksheet data.
  2. On the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click the arrow below Paste, and select Paste Special.
  3. In the Paste Special dialog box, under As, select a Microsoft Excel Worksheet Object.
  4. Select the Paste link check box and click OK.
To edit a selection of cells from a linked Excel spreadsheet, do one of the following:

  • To edit the data from within Excel, right-click the object on the slide, point to the Linked Worksheet Object, and select Edit.
  • To update the data on the slide to match the data in the original Excel file, right-click the object on the slide, and click Update Link.
