Value of a cell changed based on another cell

Hi guys,
I need cell A2 to fill with a number from 1 thru 6 based on the number in cell A1.
1) if A1 is 0 to .2 = 1 2) if A1 is .201 to .4 = 2 3) if A1 is .401 to .6 = 3 4) if A1 is .601 to .8 =4
5) if A1 is .801 to 1 = 5 6) if A1 is Greater than 1 = 6
I have a simple formula that works, but don't know how to adapt it to 1 thru 6.

Thanks for your help,

Hey p45cal,

Something is amiss. Your example looks good, but doesn't work for me. (#NAME?)

I used N83 and N164. Not sure if the inner part was done correctly. If that is an Array,

I had to use shift and input after the first comma and before the last comma individually.

Don't know how I could get those in place using Shift-Command-Enter. A couple pics to

show what I did and the result. ("Excel does not recognize this function")

See any mistakes?

Thanks for your help,

Hi p45cal,
I think we made some progress. When I input the formula, the result was either 1 or 6 or #N/A. 1 was equal to a 0 in the cell.
6 was equal to a negative number in the cell. #N/A was equal to a positive number in the cell. Positive and Negative numbers count
the same. .2 gets the same rating as -.2 etc. When I went to conditional formatting, the answer was NO! I made a table like yours and it
worked right beside like yours. No clue why the formula won't travel from N82 to N163 etc. N230 to N242 and O230 to O242 worked fine.
See pics. Closer, but something still not right.1,6,#N:A.pngStop That!.png230 to 242.png

Thanks Again,

BL

Thanks, but it would be better to post the formulae rather than a piucture so that members can copy and paste if they wish.

I'll take into account the difficulty of typing, when asking for help etc. in the future.

Thanks to all,

Especially p45cal!

The problem is that errors can easily happen when copy typing a formula - by copying and pasting it means that no errors are made. And it's actually easier for you just to copy and paste formulae into your post instead of making screenshots, so it's a win-win. Similarly, it's actually easier for your helpers if you provide a small sample workbook instead of screenshots.
