Using two none adjacent cells as the Name field for a chart series

I am struggling to work out how to use two cells to create the name field for a series on a chart. I have three sets of results which come under one test, and there are multiple tests (see table below). I thought it would be possible just to use "&" to combine the two cells together when using the chart wizard but this doesnt seem to be the case.


Any suggestions of how to do this. Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you're just wanting to do some nested labels. Is that correct?

If so, it's just a matter of how you arrange the data.

I'm not sure how I would be able to use that method. My data measures an error rate depending on different power levels, so I require a line graph. This measurement is then repeated at three different temperatures. This test is then repeated for multiple different modules.


Ideally I would like a line graph with the series labelled Test 1 Ambient, Test 1 Hot etc.


I've had a look on the web, but so far haven’t found a solution. I'm starting to wonder if Excel even lets you use multiple cells as a series name.

I think I understand. If it's just concatenating the names, you could use some helper cells to do the concatenation (using the & symbol) and then have the Chart WIzard pull from those cells.

Sorry for the delayed reply, only just got back in to work.


Thank you for you help, I came to a similar conclusion over the weekend and have gone for creating a helper string in VBA. As the data is exported into excel from an external program and we have 100's of sets of test data. I went for writing quick script to automatically generate the graphs rather than me having to sit there for hours on end mindlessly adding trace data to a graph!
