Unable to delete multiple columns due to overlap

Hi Im using excel 2013 & lost a macro I created about 6 weeks ago that was working fine until last week. I've changed computers & had numerous crashes because of the size of the files I work with & my less than average pc.
I feel excel has become unstable from the recent ussues. Should I ask for Excel to be reinstalled & is that even an option?
Thanks in advance

What's the computer's spec? CPU, RAM, OS, etc. And is Excel/Office installed in 32-bit or 64-bit.

I'd first suggest removing all add-in from Excel and running it. If it becomes stable, re-introduce add-in one at a time and test at each stage.

If above isn't the case try Office installation repair (from control panel).

After all other option fails, ask for clean install of Office.

Edit: Wait, is your title related to the issue you are having? Normally that error message is seen, when you try to delete column(s) which is part of merged cell (when part of merged cell is outside of delete selection).

Hi Chihiro, I think it's a 1.5 Intel with 4 processor. I see 4 something when I Turn the calculation back on. I had no issues doing the exact same thing a couple of weeks ago using my macro to do the exact same task in a report with merged fields (those merged fields may have been deleted with other columns, so I should get the same result) but I also have same issue in one tab that definelty doesnt have any merged fields.
I'll check with IT in the morning. I'll let you know how it goes
Thanks

Hi Chihiro, Its a core 1.5, 4 processor running on Windows SOE. I asked my IT person when she came to try to help resolve excel issues and none of her scripts worked..... technology errggghhh

Merged fields!
Best to avoid them completely - they introduce a lot of downside and no upside that cannot be achieved using other techniques, notably Center across selection.
VBA does not play well with merged fields

Hi David, this didn't relate to merge fields. I've had IT have a brief look at they're a bit stumped. I've been doing some stuff in safe mode to see if tgat makes a difference. I was able to delete multiple columns today but no time to muck around with my macro - I'm probably 2 days down due to the issues last week & a public holiday
