Ticket Tracker Excel Log

Hi

I am trying to develop a ticket system in excel for work. I realise there are better systems out there but the team I work with in only comfortable in Excel. The basic workflow will be as follows.

1. Team Member fills out a request template in Excel

2. Template is assessed and logged in separate excel as a ticket if deemed valid

3. Ticket is assigned to an analyst, status is updated as ticket progresses

4. Ticket log is used to create a dashboard of management information

I'm trying to think of ways to make it as efficient as possible. Can anyone reccomend a good template or an efficeient method for transfeerring the request data sheet to the ticket log sheet?(ideally I would like this to be automated - but don't know if this is possible).

I have access to a SharePoint site which could potentially be used to host the log and then everyone could have access to it also I would have concerns over members of the team inadvertently deleting parts!

Thanks for your help!

Hi John,

When I tried a Google search for "ticket systems in Excel", I got a few hits for some templates. Not sure if they are suitable for you, etc... but something to check out.

As far as Sharepoint is concerned, you could always enable versioning. That will ensure that if someone inadvertently overwrites something, you still have access to the previous version of that item.

(For reporting purposes, you could always import the data into Excel, and analyze it.)

Cheers,

Sajan.
