Text With Preceding Blank Spaces

I have inherited a spreadsheet from another user that contains 167 rows of text data. The text data in each cell is proceeded by varying numbers of blank spaces. I have formatted the data to left align but with the extra spaces, it does not appear that it is left aligned. Is there a way to remove all the blank spaces from the 167 rows without manually deleting them cell by cell?

In a helper column put this formula:
=TRIM(A2)

and it'll automatically remove preceeding / trailing / extra spaces.
