Hello,

Why to use a formula, Select the range of cells where you want to enter number as text and right click | Format cells |(Short cut Ctrl +1)| Number tab | Category -> Select Text

Now, You can enter any number it gives u text format

Hi,

Another quick way is to proceed the number with a single quote mark first, that will format it to text

eg: '123

thanks a lot to fashee, senthil and old chippy

if we have used a single quotation mark and entered the number

how do we take away the single quotation mark which appears before the number

Hi,

Of course if its a single cell, then you could edit in the formula bar. But either using this or senthilkumar_rm's suggestion will convert the text entries back to numbers.

Although you can see the single quote in the formula bar for a selected cell, they do not show in any of the cells on the worksheet
