reference.

also, I would request them to help me this please.

3) at present he is working in finance, how much feasible it will be to change the track.

P.S. - Please do not feel offended of this post violates forum's rule.

Hi Sachin ,

I am not particularly qualified to answer your questions ; all I can give is just my opinion.

I put in Google :

career technical writing

and the first result is :

http://idratherbewriting.com/2008/02/16/technical-writing-careers-answering-13-questions-about-technical-writing-jobs/

which appears to be a good blog.

Regarding your 3rd question , whether it is feasible to shift from a career in finance to one in technical writing is something that only your friend can say , since he / she knows how much of passion and knowledge they can bring to the job. If you have seen the manuals for Oracle products , you can see that the level of technical expertise required to write these is probably as much as the level of those who created the product.

The market for technical writing is enormous , especially because today's world is a knowledge world , and the rate at which highly sophisticated products , services and technologies are flooding the market is such that even technical professionals need to have a proper introduction to these.

The basic requirement for a career in technical writing is a passion for life-long learning , since if you have to write about technologically advanced products , not only do you have to understand the products themselves , you also have to understand the concepts involved. Talking to the highly competent people who developed the product will only give you so much information ; you will have to read and understand a lot of it on your own , so that what you write can be understood by those who do not have as much time as you ; the writer takes the effort so that the reader does not have to.
