Suggestions to improve the forum.

i have some suggestion which i wanna share with moderator's/site admins.


1. A poster should have all option whether its modify or delete a post.

2. A status indicator for all the users whether the person is online or not.

3. Private inboxes to send/receive the message when away which is linked to there Email.

4. A small chatbox for this website where quick help can be done through it.

5. Add new topic box with Html editor which enables customize the text whether to highlights/bold/italic/underline and etc.

Hi Ananthram,


For 2, you mean a separate green dot to identify the person is online or not. This feature is already available but it is subtle. Just below your name tag, you will see credits i.e. member / Excel Ninja / Keymaster etc.


The text is grey when the person is offline and blue if the person is online.
 
but how come others know that the name credits which indicates whether they are online or not... so a status indicating dot would be fine.

Your first point.....You have the chance to edit or delete your post for up to I believe one hour after you have first posted. To edit and delete other members post is a none starter.


Your second post....Not sure why this is needed and what use it would serve, Some member would like to browse in comfort and peace, I have seen other forums that do publish who is live and then posts pop up from some one trying to get their attention and they do not like it. I know of one who left a forum because of this. If you need to talk to one person in particular then ask for there email. If they will talk in private they will let you have it, if they do not wish to then that's their choice


Your third point......It is a forum for the members and browsers, if answers to a question go private how are other forum users to know the out come, An email to inform that a new answer to a question has been posted is a good idea...but the answer is public, open to the forum.


Your fourth point......Use the lounge.


Your fifth point......There are all ready the facility's to include formatting in the posts.


Your unasked sixth point.....Who is to set it all up and carry the costs, direct and indirect.
 
I would suggest to have hit Thanks or help.....this will defiantly boost the ninja or other helpers.
