Suggestion for a graph that needs to portray both absolute numbers and YoY %s

Hey guys,

I need to make a presentation today and one of the slides should have the data attached.

I want to create a single graph for the data set. Is there any way I can do that?

I used a bar chart and a line chart as a secondary axis. But, it is wrong in many ways (1.The data points are not related, so can't be connected. 2. Doesn't show the YoY decline etc).

I'm kind of desperate. So any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks a lot for your time.

S

PS: Couldn't attach an excel sheet.

Hi Suhaas,

1.The data points are not related, so can't be connected.

The data is for different parts, than what connections are you trying to establish here??

2. Doesn't show the YoY decline etc

THe decline can be shown for same parts but if the sale volume of different parts are to be shown how you can show a decline say in sales. What I understand decline is like for part A from yr. 2010 to 2015.

Regards,

Hey Somendra,

Thanks for your response.

I want to show the number of parts sold per model in 2015 and also show the growth/decline in that number from 2014. Hope this is clear.

I attached a sheet in which I made two graphs.

1) A bullet bar chart which I used to show the 2014 and 2015 absolute numbers without any percentages.
2) A bar chart with 2015 numbers and a secondary axis without a line which shows the YoY percentages.

I'm not happy with either of them. :(

Is there any other way?

Hi Suhaas ,

Someone has to be extremely generous with their time to help out by recreating data in a workbook , creating the charts and then uploading their file.

If you wish to help others help you , upload your Excel workbook ; since you say you are unable to do this ( I do not know why , when so many others do so every day ) , the simplest thing to do is to rename your workbook to a .docx extension , and then upload it. Who ever downloads the file will rename it to .xlsx and then work on it.
