Spliting numerical values alphabetical values into seprate cells

I need an excel function that will help me split the numerical values from the alphabetical values and will return them into different cells.

For example, Cell A1 containts “999999 Salaries & Wages-Regular-Management”, I need the numerical value to be in one column and the alphabetical values to be on a separate column. Like this “999999” in Cell B1 and “Salaries & Wages-Regular-Management” in cell C1.

Please help and thank you,

Hi ,

There can be several ways to get what you want ; however , the method will depend on the following factors :

1. Will the numeric value always appear before the text , or can the numeric values appear anywhere in the cell contents ?

2. Will the numeric values be a fixed number of digits or can the number of digits vary ?

3. Will the numeric values and the text be separated always by a space ? Or can the separator be other characters such as "-" , "," , "/" ,... ?
