Scrollable Excel Spreadsheet in Powerpoint 2010

Hi, I am in the process of building an interactive dashboard in powerpoint that takes data in from Excel.

The problem I am having is that it is a long list of excel data that I want to appear in Powerpoint as an interactive scrollable list on the slide.

Most posts on the web say that that you just create a spreadsheet in powerpoint using the excel function then paste in the data from your actual excel spreadsheet and if this data is larger than the box in powerpoint then scroll bars automatically appear in the powerpoint slide. But this does not work, you can paste the data in ok but no scroll bars appear and you only see a snapshot of the data on the slide.
My aim is to keep the dashboard to one slide in size and have it interactive for the users, hence the need for scroll bars.

Thanks

Steve

Good day and welcome to the forum, Not sure why you would be copy/pasting.

PowerPoint....Insert tab....Text.....Object, in the dialogue box choose Excel Worksheet in the Object Type list and check the radio button on the right to Create file.
And then choose your file/worksheet....When you have selected your file make sure you select the link radio button so that updates are auto.

Thats ok if you want to display a whole linked sheet on one slide, but I want to only display the initial first few cells , but have a scroll bar appear at the side that will let me scroll down through the rest of the data in the spreadsheet as a scrollable table. It appears to have worked fine in older versions of Powerpoint by just linking or pasting the spreadsheet in, but not it seems in 2010.
