Rounding off the Rate

Dear All,


I have an excel sheet containing rates.


For Wieght upto 1000 gms Rate is 10 Rs. per packet

For every additional 500 gms above 1000 gms rate is 6 Rs.


HOw to incorporate this in an excel formula to calculate the rate applicable?

Try the following formula :


=IF(A1<=1000,10,10+6*(INT((A1-1001)/500)+1))


I assume the weight is in cell A1. I assume that any weight up to and including 1000 gms. is at Rs. 10 , between 1001 and 1500 is at Rs. 16 and so on.
