Remove invisible http links from multi-worksheet workbooks

When I open certain inherited Excel Macro Enabled workbooks I get error messages that the workbook is "Unable to open http://xyz.xyz.com/.....xls. Cannot locate the Internet server or proxy server." There is a series of about 4 or 5 of these messages that I have to OK before the workbook will open.


I have tried doing a workbook search for "xyz.xyz.com" and for the entire http address but it is not found. As far as I know, these bad links should not exist and I did not add them but would really like to remove them without having to recreate the workbooks from scratch.


Thoughts?

In 2003, check under Edit - Edit Links. In 2007, check under Data - Edit Links.

You might also need to check under the Named Ranged (2003: Insert - Name, 2007: formulas - Name Manager) to see if there's any formulas there that refer to the linked book.
 
Luke, you are indeed a Ninja! It was a problem in the Name Manager! I do not usually look at those when I delete them to update files and had not cleared the dead references in this workbook yet. So I guess I had removed this as an issue in other workbooks without noticing it.


It is 2007, thank you. I will remember to include the version in the future - just realized that I had left that off.
