purchases and sales of share - unsold stock measured at weighted ave

can someone please assist.
i am trying to calculate weighted ave cost( WAC) per share. every time a sale happens ( negative figures) a formula must calculate the WAC cost per share of all prior unsold stock( positive figures). where selling of shares takes place, formula must not calculate the weighted ave.

each investor can belong to many fund ID. so each time the formula sees a new fund but same investor, it starts the whole process again

Hi,

The 'Weighted Average Cost' is more of a technical/Financial term to most of us

So if you could first let us know how do you manually calculate the 'Weighted Average Cost' then we would try to help you

=sumproduct(units,price)/sum(units)
this calculates the range instead of using : =average(units, price) which would result in incorrect average.

Weighted ave is where each purchase×price per unit divided by units. So if column A is purchases and column B cost per share. Sumproduct will will take range in A multiplied by B divided by sum of B.
Using average formula for column A and B will result in the incorrect answer
