Problem in Excel 2010

I am trying to copy formulas from one spreadsheet to another (separate files), but Excel will only copy the values. Is there a preferences setting somewhere I can change?

I'm on Excel 2007, but have you tried a paste special?

Actually scratch that, you said separate files.

F2 the cell you want to copy. highlight the entire formula. right click, copy. go to another file. Press F2 then crtl-v.

I too use Excel 2010. I selected a formula in the source workbook, copy, selected a cell in the target workbook, paste special, formula... and that was all!

Have you tried that?
