Practical alternate to Google play store

Hi,

I know off topics are allowed here, hope this one is allowed too.

Are there any good alternate for Google play store.
At present, I need to use Google play store to download any app on my android phone.

It is not that I have any complains about it, however, I always feel am restricted by Google.
Or is it possible to switch to another OS on android phone.
Have anyone used it. Can anyone please help me in this.

Hi, ThrottleWorks!
I use Blackmart and F-Droid, but I prefer Blackmart as F-Droid is a bit more invasive than what a paranoic IT guy can tolerate.
