pivot table help!

I need urgent help on this one. I have to prepare a report of top 40 borrowers of a bank, grop wise. In the pivot i show each group and the customers of that group, and the subtotal of the group. The customers are either resident or non resident. If the balances of resident customers is greater than the balances of non resident customers in a group, the group is resident group...or if the non resident balances are greater than resident balances thn group is classified as non resident.

My question s how to show in the pivot table automatically that a group s resident or non resident. thanks!

Hello Prisoner (of Zenda?)
Welcome to the forum!

Can you upload a sample file? (Remember to remove any sensitive info since this is a public site.)

I am not sure I follow your description about how customers are to be grouped. Are you saying the grouping already exists, and you are trying to determine if the grouping is "resident group" vs "non-resident group" based on the totals?

In your sample file, it would be best to also include a mockup of what you are looking for as final results.

Cheers,
Sajan.

Hi Sajan,

Yes, the grouping already exists and i am trying to determine whether the group is resident or non resident based on the individual balances of the customers. I manually check which balance is higher, "NR" or "R" Attached is a sample file with the similar type of data i work on and the final pvt, that I manually check to determine the residency status of the whole group.

Hi,
As far as I understood, you need to rearrange your pivot fields. You need to put "Resident Status" in Column Label and "Group Name" will be in Row Label. After that a simple if formula in end column of pivot table to determine residency status. A sample file is attached. Please rectify me if I understood wrong.
