Pivot Table - Display Names Instead of Numbers

Hi,

In a pivot table, can you display what is in a cell (for example the name of person) instead of the count number?

I've included an example, with what I would like in the pivot table underneath the actual pivot table. I don't mind how it is formatted as long as I can see all names (there may be up to a hundred) in each box of table.

I know you can double click on the number to get the records, but I would like the names to be there all ready so that I don't have to double click each one to find who the people are in the pivot table.

And if it's not possible to do in the pivot table, can you set up a separate table that will show the names, and refresh each time you refresh the pivot table?

Regards
Jake

Good day Jake

No, I'm afraid not. A pivot table is a summary tool that performs calculations on a dataset

This could get a bit messy if more than one name does the same course/date
Try dragging the "Surname Forename" in the the column field.

Not a good idea to have both the Surname and First name in the same data cell.

Please have a look at the upload.

Hi jakefh,

As bobhc said, Pivot Table can only show you calculation.

I tried to find a solution by using some formula with Pivot. I hope this will help you. You need to copy paste the formula to further accommodate / expand the list. Uploaded file.

And it is good to convert you data to table (as this also mentioned by bobhc).
