Pivot Table Chart - dates plot in wrong order.

Dear all, in the attached file, I am trying to create a chart based on a Pivot table that plots when members join an organization. All is OK when the dates are limited to a single year (i.e. the dates on the axis plot in the correct time sequence). However, when I add a date belonging to a new (later) year, this new date appears first in the date range axis. Also, the date labels on the axis appear as Jul, Aug, Sep etc, without the associated year (2017, 2018). I'm sure that this is probably a simple set up of the parameters for the chart / pivot table but I cannot seem to find the solution. This question is a continuation of a previous post. https://chandoo.org/forum/posts/216868/.

Hi ,

If you place the cursor in the Row Labels area and right-click , you can select Group to get the dialog box ; in this you will see only the Months option selected and highlighted ; click on the Years option to select that also.

Now you can see the Years as well as the Months.

Ha.....Narayan, you come to my rescue again. Many thanks. One last question.....in the Membership sheet, there are two members who have not joined but have made donations (hence there is no date associated with these two persons). Is there a simple way to remove these two "blank" entries from the chart?

Hi ,

The pivot chart is based off the pivot table ; in the Row Labels area , click the dropdown arrow and uncheck the checkbox relating to (blanks) so that the rows are hidden ; the pivot chart will no longer display these blank entries.

Of course , you can also click the selection button inside the pivot chart.
