Pie Chart Plot area

Pie Chart Plot Area
I'm using Excel 2003 and I increase my plot area in my pie chart to reduce the amount of white space in my chart area. When I increase or decrease the chart area it increases and decreases the pie chart too. I just want to increase the plot area. I click on the grey outline on the plot area and it won't allow me to expand the area. Can I change the size on this or am I stuck w/lots o' white?

Thanks,

Hi ,

The plot area for a pie-chart will always be a square , whose side is equal to the pie-chart's circular diameter.

The chart area can be a square or a rectangle.

Suppose your chart area is dimensioned as 3" by 3" square ; when you drag your plot area to expand it , you can go up to probably 2.95" by 2.95".

Provided you do not change your chart area to a rectangle , I don't see how you can have lots of white space around your pie. Of course , if you provide a title , axis titles , legend , all of these will also take away from the pie' space , and this can increase the white space on the chart.
