Paste as Linked Picture causes performance issues?

I recently created a dashboard and pasted several tables as linked pictures (column and row width just were not allowing me to get where I wanted). It looks great but scrolling is just about terrible sometimes. Usually if i scroll down with the mouse it refreshes every second for a few seconds. Its quite annoying and looking at excel.exe's resources, its hardly anything. However, sometimes the dashboard scrolls very well just as a regular spreadsheet. What is causing this irritating choppy lag while scrolling?

2 cents...

- you have too many programs or files opened at the same time?

- not enough memory in the system?

- driving a 120 cc bike at top speed?

It doesn't matter if I have 10 other programs open or nothing...scrolling is just choppy. My task manager shows excel is using a fraction of the resources as my internet browser, so just wanted some ideas if using Linked Pictures is known to cause slow scrolling. I can even delete most of the pictures on the dashboard but it scrolls the same. Really frustrating.

I have not experienced the same thing you have. Have you tried reinstalling Excel?? or check to see if there is excessive rows or columns that's not used. And I found out that even if I have just one single big Excel file running, the system could still be choppy.

check to see your auto-save is not set at every other minute. That's all I can say.

Thanks fred. Turns out I may have helped the issue but reducing the level of zoom. For some reason the sheet was always on 120% zoom, and when I ticked it down to 100% the scrolling was a bit smoother. Hope this helps anyone else who runs into this issue.
