Hi
I've created macro to retrieve data from web site but iits not pulling the data and i am getting blank page with below error

"This web query returned no data. To change the query, click OK, click arrow on the name box in the formula bar, click the name of the external data range for the Web query, right-click the selection, and then click Edit Query".

please let me know if any have solution to this.

Hi Monty,

Thanks for reply,

by mistakenly i have mentioned i have created macro...but i am trying to created...previously i have created macros for report generation but this is the first time i am creating macro to pull the data.

Open excel > data > from web >enter the web address (TechOnline)

this web site is internal site where we have all the data and different fields need
be checked before pulling the data.

once the data is populated we check the data fields with arrow mark and importing the data.

**after importing the data the excel is showing blank and showing the error message**

I even changed the browser setting to enable the script and changed the security setting to low.

when i try to create macros its getting stopped automatically.

have attached query in notepad as .iqy file is niot getting uploaded

Thanks

i got some info from my colleague that when we are trying to import data its calling very lengthy web address...thats why data is not displaying

and getting error as web address is to long thats why data not able to display.

how to solve this in case this is the problem

Hi !

Ask to your colleague how to mount a drive on a network address
reducing drastically string length …

Hi Marc,

what you have said is right ....but in a organisation like my company there are many servers which are hosting data base..... if its my local drive i would have mounted it ...but how can i ask my network team so that they will mount the drive for me...i am doing automation for my project and network team may not be interested in my work or they may think its risky..

Thanks in advance..

So you can learn from them how to connect a drive
or just by doing an easy web search …

Or if you just warm a couple of neurons
you can copy file on local hard drive …

So many ways depending on your context, environment,
that we don't know, so you just must think about it !

I yet wrote about others ways in your previous thread about same subject …

Hi mark,
Thank for your valuable suggestion ...I have gone through your previous post and links which you have shared ...there is one thing I found in my site is when data gets populated there is a option to export table in excel format to local drive ...but when tried to create macros up to here its getting recorded when I tried to save the table in excel format to my local drive recording gets stopped ...I don't know why this is heppening

Let me in if you have any idea about it....

Thanks

Sorry but how could I have any idea about a site and its option
I've never seen ! As we are not mind readers neither soothsayers

Ask to people in charge of the site about this export option.
Once on your local drive, you can achieve all you need …

i can understand just you cant give solution without knowing it...because of the curiosity i asked if you have any solution... thanks once again for your time..
