Need Simple & Effective Chart

Anil Kulkarni

Hi,

I have sample data organized as follows: What is the most effective way to represent this in a chart? I tried all options but am unable to see the data clearly. Help appreciated. It should not be too complex either.
Month North South East West Centre Far East Grand Total
Jul'13 663 7 13 82 4 0 769
Aug'13 678 35 25 91 6 0 835
Sep'13 745 35 9 95 1 0 885
Oct'13 805 21 2 71 2 0 901

Hopefully one of these looks promising.

Hi Kulkarni ,

The most effective way to represent data depends on what you wish to present.

In your sample data , what are the points you can present ?

1. North has a lion's share of the country total ; a pie-chart or a bubble chart will present this well.

2. North's figure has risen continuously from July through October ; either a line or a column chart will present this well.

3. East's figure has declined over the last 3 months.

4. The Far East has not contributed anything over the last 4 months.

5. Is there anything else you wish to present which is not obvious in this sample data ?

Any chart is to present better in pictures what cannot be presented as effectively in words ; first decide what it is you wish to present ; for this you need to look at the actual data , not sample data.

Thanks people. I just wanted a graph that can clearly show the values and bring out the data. I will take a stab at it. thanks for your suggestions.
