Need help with counting formula

Is there a forumla I can use to count the spaces between these letters in columns BCDE going verticle and place the number in GHIJ?

Hi

By counting the spaces I assume you mean counting the "apparently" blank cells between each cell that contains letters. And I say "apparently" because some of them aren't really blanks - some have zeros and others seem to have some value that my excel can't read, although it can tell the cell isn't blank.

This poses a problem in finding a proper solution. I was able to find one but only after cleaning the file by getting rid of those "false" blank cells.

If your actual file is much bigger then I don't know what your approach should be here...

Anyway, please see if the file attached helps with your problem.

Thanks got the reply. I'll take a look at this as soon as get to my laptop Yes I mean blank cells. The ones with a 0 will be filled with the formula I'm looking for

Can you tell me what I am doing wrong. I copied the formulas to a different column and added only formulas to = another column and rows to pull the ee oo eo oe off of them and I am getting all 0's

I don't understand why on columns M-N you had formulas just on even rows and on O-P only on uneven ones. I dragged the formula you have there for all rows. I then changed the formulas on AN-AQ. Please check the attached file.
