Need help on VBA Scripting II for printing images

Raja Kamarthi

New Member
Hello Friends,

I'm building a template which would store all the vital documents like passport, visa, etc etc of the employees associated with our company.

Now am looking for a scripting which would run the "PRINT"command for ONLY the selected employee and the selected documents

For eg, if I select "Employee 1"from the drop down of the list of the employees and select the documents which are to be printed and then run the macro, i should get the print of ONLY those documents. An employee can have 10 documents but I select only 3 documents, the macro should print only these 3.

EDITED: title too.

Hi, Raja Kamarthi!

The file you uploaded opens on a worksheet named has embedded images of actual documents, which is absolutely inadmissible. Would you like having your passport scanned and uploaded to a publicly available forum, or even anywhere? If so, please upload again a file with your actual passport, driving license, ...

A few days ago b(ut)ob(ut)hc posted this:

http://chandoo.org/forums/topic/urgent-help-needed-in-splitting-the-address-data-in-one-cell-to-multiple-cells#post-98537

So for future uploads take care of not posting any file that infringes privacy rights, copyright laws or dispositions/conditions of use of it legal owners.

Regards!

PS: If you had to handle any sensitive information a good practice is to post an email address of yours so as people may drop you a mail and get in touch. But in this case, where real documents of real people are involved I think that it would neither be a good idea unless you replace them by images of Pluto and Mickey.

PS2: BTW, it'd be helpful if you title your topics in a more descriptive way so as to aid people who might read them from the list.

My sincere apologies for this miss. I was not aware of the copyright laws or the implications of the copying the images. I have deleted the file and uploaded a new one

Also moving forward I would have a well self explanatory title for my topics

Now, can you please help me out with what I am looking for

Hi, Raja Kamarthi!

In this case it wasn't about copyright laws but of personal privacy.

I'll give a look at the file later.

Hi, Raja Kamarthi!

I don't think that it's a good idea handling the scanned images of the employee documents in such a way. It's weirder than scratching your left ear with your right hand going under the left oxter.

Handling changes, updates, it'd be frustating. And if you have more employees? No way.

Another approach might be something like this:

http://chandoo.org/forums/topic/insert-photos-in-excel-upon-name-change-in-a-cell

You have an Excel file with the employee data, a folder with images, and a reference in the workbook to that images. There only one image per employee it's being handled depending on the employees' number and the documents' number per employee maybe it'd be useful to standardize images naming.

Please detail all the specs not only for this workbook but for all the employee's project, as this might and should be included in your previous one regarding expiration dates. I don't know you, but I don't like working two or more times, sometimes not only one.

Regards!

SirJB7,

I am sorry for the frustration caused but I never knew that the management would ask something like this after I shared the Expiration file created by you..

Till date whatever I have asked on this forum, each time one or the other have responded and provided a solution, may be this time I am asking for more...

Many Thanks for your advice and will get back if I need your assistance

Hi, Raja Kamarthi!

Maybe I didn't expressed myself clearly, I intended to transmit three concepts:

1) images embedded within a worksheet isn't practical for many employees with many documents each, it's better to create a subfolder where you can store them with names like "EmpID_DocID.xxx" where xxx might be any image file (that's why in my referred example you'd find .gif, .bmp, .jpg, .png

2) if this is suitable for your needs, then we have to solve the issue of how to get them displayed (which it's already done in the other project) and to print them (which it shouldn't be so difficult)

3) I'd build a unique workbook with many worksheets (one or the needed ones -in this case at least 2-) for each feature (expiration dates, printing document images, ...) as they're all related and will be referencing the same ranges, the same data, so my last paragraph was the written expression of what I thought "why not doing all together instead of repeating parts several times? I'd be working less in this way!"

So if you still need this stuff of the documents I'd be glad to go on helping you. I apologize if I lead you to misunderstand me.

Regards!

Greetings SirJB7,

Please don't embarrass me by using words like "Apologize". A person of your stature deserves unconditional respect and appreciation.

And in regards to the VBA support can you please share your e mail id so that I can share the sub folder consisting confidential images

Thank You

RK

Hi, R K!

Welcome back renamed, simple, cryptic, nice. :p

About posting email addresses, I have to say again "I apologize", but here's an explanation:

http://chandoo.org/forums/topic/locking-the-cell-automaticall-once-the-date-passed#post-21903

I hope you understand.

Regards!

PS: In any case you posted it here, I'd remove it as soon as I read it so as to minimize your exposition too if you want it.

PS2: I actually appreciate your nice words, thank you, but I feel obliged to correct you: as members of a community we all have the same stature, unless the KeyMaster, he barely reaches 5'1".
