Need a formula for counting unique values based on other criteria

Hi folks,


I have a spreadsheet which contains quality data for our production. It includes the week, serial number of the item and quality defect. I have duplicate serial numbers on the sheet as an item can have multiple defects. I have a pivot table which totals the defects which occured in a selected week. Now I need to know, in that specific week, how many unique serial numbers had defects so I can calcuate a right-first-time percentage. How do I write a formula that looks to that specific week and counts the unique serial numbers?
