Named Ranges

Can someone explain the named ranges, how these defined and how these works in simple words as I am unable to understand these.

Are you interested in these 5 named ranges , or are you interested in the subject of named ranges ? If it is the latter , the Internet has a lot of resources.

Hi sir, actually i want to know how these named ranges works ?

in simple format, I prepare a copy for this chart and there is showing an error while selecting named range "chart" in data source field.

Is any relative post available on Chandoo.org?

Hi Kushawah ,


This is a problem with using named ranges ; if you want to add a named range to a chart , you cannot use something like :


=Chart


in the Series Values input box.


What you need to do is use either the sheet name or the workbook name as a prefix. Thus :


=Sheet1!Chart


='Dynamic-chart-Display-any-row-or-column.xlsx'!Chart


are both acceptable. In fact , if you enter the first version ( =Sheet1!Chart ) , Excel will convert it to the second version automatically.

Hi Kushawah ,


The problem is your drop-downs are in B16 and B17 ; they need to be only in C16 and C17 , since these are the addresses used in the named ranges Month and Region.


Delete the drop-downs in B16 and B17 , and redo them in C16 and C17.
