Named ranges in charts in PowerPoint 2013 - dropping linked spreadsheet name

I created an Excel file and PowerPoint using 2010 that had named ranges for dynamic charts. Excel housed the source data and the charts, then the charts were copied over to the PowerPoint to be shared. Ideally, when I would refresh the data the charts in both the spreadsheet and PowerPoint would update automatically. I recently "upgraded" to 2013, and since then these dynamic charts have been dropping the source spreadsheet name and in effect losing the connection to the source data (within the chart, the named range should appear as something like Spreadsheet_Name.xlsx!Named_Range). I've made sure the Edit Links to files is correct, I've had the source spreadsheet open, and no matter what the spreadsheet name is dropped. I've also tried both Linking and Embedding the charts in PowerPoint and neither works.

The only thing I've tried that works is Paste Link, which only pastes it as an image, not as a chart. But it doesn't make sense you can't copy the chart as a chart and still have it act as a dynamic chart in 2013 if it was available to do so in 2010.
