Match numbers and return column number based on condition

I have a worksheet that has a summary sheet which keeps all the data and several other data sheets that are used to confirmed the information. I like to match the identifying number on the summary sheet with the number on the data sheet and list the column letters, in one cell, where the condition is not met.

Also the data sheet will be updated which will affect the result of the conditional statement but I want to be able to preserve the historical result of the first results.

*The identifying numbers are not unique but there should never be a situation this would cause different data to be returned.

Is this possible?

Hi,

Can you provide a file for us to look at... it's easier that way

Thanks

Regards

Hello,

In the sample data, I would like to find the matching invoice number in validation sheet 1 or 2 and in column D reference the column letter or heading that does not reflect "OK". I would like all the columns letters to be in one cell separated by commas. There will be subsequent changes to the validations sheets that will change the validation sheets text once errors have been corrected but I would still like to preserve the historical errors found.

CROSS POSTING

If you took the time to read the rules you would have read this section:-
  • Cross-Posting. Generally, it is considered poor practice to cross post. That is to post the same question on several forums in the hope of getting a response quicker.
  • If you do cross-post, please put that in your post.
  • Also if you have cross-posted and get an answer elsewhere, have the courtesy of posting the answer here so other readers can learn from the answer also, as well as stopping people wasting their time on your answered question.
You have done none of the above, if you cannot be bothered with forum rules then perhaps you should use one of the many forums that care for a no rule open house mess.

You have cross posted here:-

http://www.mrexcel.com/forum/excel-questions/975312-match-number-list-column-headings-one-cell.html

and here

http://www.excelforum.com/showthread.php?t=1162906&p=4520221&highlight=#post4520221

and along with the members of Chandoo who you have kept in the dark you have not bothered to inform users of those sites that you are expecting Excel user across multiple forums to help you and tie up their free time under the assumption no one else is.

.

I have a UDF solution, however, since I am a moderator elsewhere and want to encourage providing links to cross posts, I will only post my offering when Keysha_bee has supplied all links to all cross posts, at all cross posted sites (and I know there is at least one more cross post than the ones linked-to above).
Some forums forbid other members responding with solutions until compliance by the OP.
