Linking files to hide data

I may be using the wrong terminology with "Link" but that is what I think of with this.

What I am trying to do is to link data from one file to another so that in the second file I can remove certain data points. That in itself is simple with just a = and then the cell in the other file then delete cells I don't want to share. Thing is, the original file has nearly 6,000 cells and I want to do this monthly and not have to recreate it each month. Perfect solution would be that I enter the file name of the copy from file into the copy to file and it would populate.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you need lookups, but without some sample data, it's impossible to provide concrete advice.

Thank you for the reply. Examples won't help and the data is proprietary anyways. I think the problem is my description so let me try this again.
I have two spreadsheets with essentially the same data in both. The difference between them is that one has all data (source) and the second (share) is more like a recap of the source data. I receive from accounting the one with the proprietary data monthly. I want to be able to share the other spreadsheet with updated data every month but do not want to have to copy and paste from the source sheet every month and then have to manually edit out data that cannot be shared. Therefore, I think, what need is to be able to enter the source file name someplace in the share sheet and the data in the cells I want to share can be updated.
I hope this makes sense.
