linked pictures [SOLVED]

Hi guys -A quick question, but does anyone know why when i go to linked pictures after following chandoo guide on dynamic charts etc it is greyed out. I can link pictures from one workbook to another but not on the same workbook?


im using excel 2007 and its driving me crazy!

Thanks for reply - I did look but no answer to my query -The main page is where the picture links are, but i have to manually click on each location in the workbook for them to appear. When i come out of the ss and go back in they disapear again!

I followed the link, downloaded the file, went to 2nd worksheet, copied the 4 charts to the right of themselves (column N), added a new named formula XXX equally defined as selChart, back to 1st worksheet, copied drop down list box to column Q, and I didn't find any issue.

Still no joy - i have attached the file if you get time to take a look at. I have messed around to see what gives me the best options on each sheet, but ultimatly i wanted it on summary page - i just cant see what i am doing wrong.

I ensured that all the ranges had the same number of rows in them viz. 21 ; everything appears to be OK.

Hi did you save it - as its still not working correctly Narayan. Thank you for looking at it also. The main issue is you set the ranges and everything points to the right place but when you save and reopen the graphs just dont display in the summary page.

I find that the picture's behaviour is quite erratic ; all of a sudden it starts working , but even then only some months' charts work , other months don't appear ; let me check it out and I'll get back to you.

The technique used is different from what you wanted ; can you first confirm whether the problem of the chart refreshing automatically and correctly is still present ?

Firstly thank you for all your help, i have opened the file and all is working correctly. Did you ever find out what was causing the issues with linked pictures?I have done another spreadsheet at work, and that still has the same issues. The graphs refresh at first then just stop working.
