Linked files

Hi,

I've set up a macro to move a sheet from one file to a new file, then copy paste special values, save it and email it.

When I open the file it asks if i want to update the links, when i check the edit links, it's linking to the old file, anyway i can find out where the link is?

The whole file is values.

Thanks

Paul

Hi, mr_hiboy!

If you move a file from a workbook to another one and it has formulas regarding other worksheets of the source workbook or to other workbooks, target workbook will keep those references to update the data when required. No matter if you "after" copy and paste only values, the link is yet set.

You can check the links inherited by the new workbook from the Data tab, Links or Connections group, Links icon.

To avoid that try making a copy of the worksheet in the same source workbook, then copy & paste on it, and at last move it to the new workbook.

Regards!
