Link 2 Excel Workbooks sitting on a Network on SharePoint

I am not quite sure what the deal is but I used to be able to have a Pivot Table on Workbook #1 using data that is also stored on SharePoint within Workbook #2. Now Excel is telling me "We couldnt get the data from "Table" in the workbook "SharePoint directory URL file" Open this workbook in Excel and try again."

Essentially it wants me to have both files open at the same time in order to refresh the data. I do not want to do this. I want it to extra and link the data through whatever connection I need to do.

Any thoughts? Sorry if this is a repeat question. I have tried to search the forums.

I'm more perplexed by the fact that this error is new.
