Leading Zeroes Disappear When Moving Text to Columns

Hello. I routinely have to move text to columns leaving the alpha characters in the first column and moving the number to the second column: MAT001. When I do this the leading zeros disappear. I have already made all the cells text, but that doesn't work. Any ideas, please? TX!
 
when you use text to columns, you ca configure the data type of each column in one of the screens. There you can select the second column and set the type as text. This should correct the behavior.
