inconsistent line size of excel vs word

Hi All,

Im working as a document controller in our company. One of my task is to create processes from different teams. I used excel to create flowchart instead of word or visio.

What I have noticed during printing is that, the line weight 1/4 is different from word. Excel is more bold as compared with word.

I try this with different printer and still the same. I'm using office 2007 version.

I like the printout in word than excel, but i find it difficult to create flowchart in word.

Hope someone can solve my excel question.

Regards to All,

Hi Noli ,

Surely the printer must be printing what ever it is supplied with ; if a line of 2 pts. thickness is drawn in Excel , and printed , it must be identical to a line of 2 pts. thickness drawn in Word , and printed.

Can you not select all the objects in your flowchart , and reduce the weight of the lines / outlines by 1/4 , say from 2 pts. to 1.75 pts. ?

@ Narayan Sir, sorry for the interfere.

@ Alexa1103, no offence to your post.

I draw 1 line each in word & excel with same properties (50 width) & compared these lines in the mspaint, but they are exactly same, I could not see any difference in the size.

Hi Sachin ,

No problem ; that is what I wanted to convey to Noli ; that if the line weight settings are identical in Excel and Word , the printed output should also be identical.

It is possible that the default settings in Excel are different from those in Word ; all shapes in Excel might be starting with a default line weight of 1 pt. , while in Word , the default setting might be 0.75 pts.
