Hyperlink

Hi friends


This is an easy task to many of you but I am finding it very difficult to solve it..


Problem


I have created a New Folder in "my documents" and had 2 excel files in the New Folder named it as excel1 & excel2


I have given hyperlink of a cell in excel 2 from excel 1 file....... Its working fine


But when I moved this New Folder (which contains excel 1 and excel 2) in to D drive its not working...... Similarly when I moved it into some other computer its not working.....


Please guide me how to solve this.

Thats because the address in the hyperlink is still pointing to the original folder, right click on the hyperlink and choose edit hyperlink and update the address

If you move the whole folder in other place that hyperlink works fine, But if you move only Excel1 File and then try to use Hyperlink it will not work bcoz it still pointing to the original folder.

I think you will find that even if you move the complete folder the address will change so the hyperlink will not work as the address of the folder has changed, the best way to allow other user/computer to access the workbook is to store it on a network server

But when I downloaded a zip file from chandoo templates which contain excel sheets it has hyperlinks its working fine if I move to some other computer or to other folder.


SO I request you to check it

as far as I remember the formula goes like this


file:///c:usersowner......

I think you will find that the hyperlinks in a Chandoo download are addressing the location on the Chandoo server which is not moving, therefore you can access the file details no matter where you store the download.


I mentioned a server a post back


So I don't think there is a need to carry out "SO I request you to check it"
